Kia Forum: a practical guide for visitors

The Kia Forum stands at the corner of Manchester Boulevard and Prairie Avenue in Inglewood. Architect Charles Luckman designed the venue, which opened on December 30, 1967, for a Los Angeles Kings hockey game.

During the latter half of the 20th century, the building was home to the Los Angeles Kings and Los Angeles Lakers. It also hosted the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments and the men’s handball finals during the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

From Jet Inn, a two-star motel, the Kia Forum is about a 9-minute drive. If you are driving, use the Prairie Avenue or Kareem Court gates to enter the venue’s onsite parking lots.

Metro bus service is another option. Lines 115, 211, 212 and 215 serve stops at Prairie/Manchester or Prairie/Kelso; the walks from those stops are about 1 minute and 3 minutes, respectively. Regular fare is $1.75 one way or $3.50 round trip, and children under age 6 ride free with an adult.

Parking hours and rates vary by event. Most event lots open three hours before an event starts and close one hour after it ends; prepaid parking is available through JustPark, the venue’s official parking partner.

The lots are cashless and accept major credit cards, debit cards and contactless payments. Overnight parking and tailgating are not allowed. Drop-offs are permitted at all entrances, while rideshare pickups use Lot H at Pincay Drive and Prairie Avenue.

The Kia Forum allows clear bags up to 12 × 6 × 12 inches and non-clear small clutches or wristlets up to 9 × 6 inches.

Diaper and medical bags are allowed when accompanied by the guest using them, but all bags are subject to search, including X-ray screening. Rules may vary by show, so confirm the policy for your event.

Security screening uses walk-through metal detectors, hand-held wands and other devices. Arrive early to allow time for screening. Only service animals are permitted inside.

Start by confirming the event’s bag policy and parking details, then choose whether to drive, take Metro or arrange a drop-off.
